I only meditate when I feel good

I have been going though a difficult time recently. I notice that my mind avoids meditating, because it tries to avoid the feeling. I tried establishing a regular meditation habit, but when I end up not sticking to it I become frustrated and it makes me even less likely to practice. I am going to a local temple weekly and it has been helpful, but it doesn't seem to be enough. Does anyone have a similar experience?
