Laughing and Weeping Buddha
I assume that after enlightenment Buddha no longer experienced suffering or any emotions connected with desire. So why is there a laughing and weeping Buddha? In the story of the Weeping Buddha, he observes the world's suffering and starts crying. Are these metaphors or folk traditions added later?
