I have a few friends who are feeling extreme distress due to developments in government. Could anyone help me find dharma that explains their concerns are transitory? Non-political responses, please.

I think the title explains things. I’m not as familiar with the dharma as I’d like to be but I know many here are. I could speak in broad strokes to them, but in Mahayana at least I’m aware that teaching sunyatta and anicca to those who aren’t predisposed to understand the concepts isn’t the best thing to do, and I’m hesistant to share the main things that I am aware of without guidance. So while I’m comfortable knowing in my admittedly limited studies that not only are all things (and political appointees of all varieties!) temporary, but that all things arise together, so there isn’t a completely separate great evil assailing us for all time as my friends are afraid of right now. I see them suffering greatly over that notion and I want to help but I’m not learned enough to know the best way.

I’m sure many of you know what I’m referencing, but political standpoints are, I think, irrelevant to this particular question. These are simply people in distress regarding the actions of other humans who have the capacity to echo for a while in society, but they won’t echo eternally because nothing can. I only want to at least try to calm their minds that nothing is permanent in life, even in politics, unless our minds falsely accept it to be permanent.

I haven’t studied enough yet to produce easily understood dharma passages supporting this, so if anyone could help I’d be very grateful. Again, I’m not sure they’ll accept it in the first place, but I think they might take at least a little bit of solace in a pointed passage or two about impermanence or anything else you all might find helpful on this topic. Or maybe not! But it doesn’t hurt to try.

I apologize for being long-winded. This is my first post here. I also hope it’s not considered offensive or too amateurish. I appreciate you all very much. I’ve learned a lot from this sub in the past months. Thank you all.
