How to live in the moment but plan for the future

A lot of what I've read is being mindful and living in the now, accepting everything for what it is.

How does this coincidence with planning for the future?

Or am I over thinking, and it's a combination of the two you can practice? For example, thinking you need to get food to eat tomorrow, then being mindful in the process?
