How is Pure-Land Buddhism any different from Christianity?
Something has been bothering me recently about this particular tradition. Many Buddhist like to expound that Buddhism is more of a philosophy of life than a religion. But it seems to me that the largest sect in Asia is based on the same superstitions that Christianity is. That by chanting Amitābha's name (praying to God) you will be reincarnated (reborn) into the Pure-Land (heaven). How is this any different, more valuable, or more accurate than Christianity? Or any of the other Abrahamic religions for that matter.
