Do the texts say anything about individuals who achieve the Jhanas very easily at a young age?
I've heard claims before by certain monks who said that individuals whom easily obtain the Jhanas, especially at a young age, likely had some degree of experience with them in their previous birth and lead some degree of meditative life, and that their current life may be of some sort spiritual significance/continuance. I also recall it being said that one of the things the Buddha is known for is achieving Jhana nearly effortlessly at a young age without trying.
It's odd because I've seen some teachers claim that the absorption states are difficult to achieve for most people, whereas other teachers claim anyone can easily achieve them with proper technique their first few times meditating, yet, I seem to see so many people online struggle with reaching them. I personally experienced them very early on when I started meditating, but I feel I may have taken the experiences for granted by not practicing them diligently enough over the years.
