[ask] How are most buddhist monks able to sleep for only 4-5 hours?
I am not a buddhist and this is only based on anecdotal experience of me staying in a dharamshala for 3 days, but what I noticed was that most monks who also stayed there slept by 12 when the lights went and woke up at 3-4 AM to start their meditation practise without fail. They didn't even appear drowsy at all. All I am asking is how do they even manage to do that? Is it due to their simple diet or their meditation techniques? Or maybe because they were all young? I just wanted to ask here if there are certain religious texts in buddhism which contain knowledge about increasing quality of sleep or something as I don't even feel well after 8-10 hours of sleep and was really surprised to see monks who worked hard the entire day manage on 1/3rd of that.
