A Few Questions Regarding Climate Change and Buddhism

Hi, everyone, I'm working on an assignment in school where we are supposed to obtain information about various religions and how they generally feel and deal with the issues surrounding climate change. While I have information on the Dalai Lama's (and other Buddhist leaders) stance on most issues regarding climate change I also wanted some more personal responses. I have two broad questions for you any sort of response would be greatly appreciated.

1.) Do you believe that Buddhism has a strong relationship with the environment? If so, can you explain the relationship that exists and how do you personally think that is has been impacted or will be impacted by climate change?

2.) Do you believe that Buddhism today has shifted or changed its perception of how one should correctly follow one’s path to reach enlightenment or next stage? Do you feel that Western philosophies and ideologies have influenced Buddhist thoughts and teachings in any way?
