Where can I find the original Buddhist source for this quote?
I recently read David R. Hawkins book "Transcending the Levels of Consciousness".
Using both Jesus sweating blood and the following quote on Buddha as examples, he suggests that immense pain in the form of a "dark night of the soul" must be passed through on our spiritually journeys to reach higher levels of spirituality.
He quotes "...the Buddha reported that he felt as though his bones were being broken and he was being attacked by demons".
Does anyone know where I can find the original source of this text?
