Buddha by Deepak Chopra

I've read 100 pages already and it was nice, but something felt kind of off about the whole thing so I checked the reviews online and it seems like a lot of people don't trust Chopra. They say he misrepresents buddhism. Is the book worth reading it till the end? And what actually meaningful buddhist books could I read? I'm not sure what kind of literature to look for to dig deeper into buddhist teachings.
