Why does losing your sense of self make you more loving and compassionate?
It's said that once you realise you're not an experiencer in addition to the experience, that you're not a subject located inside your head, the centre drops and you just take in experience for what it is. It's also said that it makes you much more loving and compassionate.
Is there an actual reason why not feeling like you're a subject in your head makes you more compassionate? They seem to be utterly unrelated to me. I can understand someone gaining mindful insights into human nature and therefore being more forgiving and empathic to other people, but how does simply losing the sense of being a locus make you more kind and loving?
