What other clear and lucid presentations of Zen exist, besides Huangbo?
I am reading "The Zen Teachings of Huang-po" and the teachings are so clear and lucid. They remind me of some of the great suttas of the Pali Canon.
Unfortunately, most other recommendations - such as Mumonkan, Blue Cliff Record, Book of Serenity - are obscure and very hard to understand. Koans may have their purpose, but for solitary learning they are unsuitable. (Personally I believe only a small minority of them contain valuable teaching at all).
Are there any other texts presenting Chan Buddhism in similarly clear and lucid style, like Huangbo's?
