New to Buddhism and I want to learn more about it.

Hey there,

So I know a little bit about Buddhism and it really resonates with me so far, but I definitely need to learn more about it. First of all, is it a requirement to go to temple weekly? Does this depend on which branch of Buddhism you are practicing? How many branches of Buddhism are there? I have a bunch of books about it I am planning to read this weekend, but I was raised Christian so this is all very new and different for me. :)
