Does Buddhism encourage soft determinism?
It seems like determinism is embraced in Buddhist thought; Dependent Origination and the lack of any independent object seems to confirm this. But at the same time the principle of Kamma requires some form of free will; It gives our actions meaning. Am I misinterpreting anything here?
I feel like maybe the Buddha warns against determinism and free will. Though I could be wrong.
To clarify this isn't something negatively effecting my practice in any way. I don't think the labels matter too much and I am not applying either to myself currently.
